As a business we want to ensure we use our power to give back where we can. This year we are thrilled to announce that our supported charity is the Motor Neurone Disease Association. A charity that is close to the heart of our founder Gary, it was only fitting that we chose to help raise money for this incredible organisation. Year after year they continue to work tirelessly to care and support families affected by this terrible disease, and continue to conduct research to work towards finding a cure.
What is Motor Neurone Disease?
Motor Neurone Disease is life-shortening and there is no cure. Over time, communication between the nerves in the brain and the muscles fail, producing devastation affects on how the individual walks, talks, eats, drinks and breathes. Although the disease will progress, symptoms can be managed to help achieve the best possible quality of life. This is were MNDA aids the lives of those affected, to improve the care and support for people with MND, their families and carers.
What are our plans to raise money
Our first step towards raising money was to hold a charity walk that took place in Knaresborough. The 21.3 mile walk, which took place on the 11th July, saw Gary, his family and extended family, as well as some business colleagues, venture across fields, through villages and over streams before ending up in the village of Goldsborough to rest their weary feet. The challenge set was to not only get around the 21.3 mile circuit, but to also complete it in under 10 hours, which the team accomplished with pride.
Thanks to some very generous donations from friends, family, businesses and members of the public, the team have so far raised over £4500. With an ambitious goal over the next year to raise somewhere in the region of £10,000, all of your support and generosity is incredibly welcome and appreciated. With your donations, we’re able to help the association conduct all important research and allow them to give support and help to those who need it most.
Although talks are still being held about what the next fundraising challenge will be, one of the considerations is a skydive. We will of course, keep the website and our social channels updated so you can keep track of what the team will be getting up to.
