With the impending move of the SAP estate to the Microsoft Azure public cloud platform, there was a need to reduce the storage and backup footprint to avoid unnecessary costs.
The main challenge faced by the project team was the time taken to perform the migration – exporting the data out of their current production SAP ECC system and importing this data into the new Azure-based environment.
Their existing platform was incapable of supporting the current user base and retaining an acceptable level of performance. A significant increase in the user base was not possible.
