Maintenance and Upgrade
SAP have recently published that at the end of 2017 NetWeaver 7.0 will reach end of maintenance. Whilst this only affects limited number software components such as SAP Enterprise Portal, the interoperability of NetWeaver 7.0 with other Business Suite products such as SAP ERP, SAP CRM, SAP SCM and SAP SRM may force customers to upgrade or update their Business Suite products when they decide to upgrade their SAP NetWeaver 7.0 systems.
Recent experience has shown how un-planned Support Package stack upgrades and even Enhancement Pack upgrades have been necessary to fulfil requirements for other forthcoming projects, although this wasn’t initially envisaged or even planned for.
Positioning your SAP Business Suite to make the move from being hosted on traditional databases such as Oracle, DB2 and ASE to SAP Business Suite on HANA will, for example, force an upgrade of your core ECC6 system to Enhancement Package 7 and then a database migration from your current database to HANA.
